That's all we can tell you for now, but keep checking back here for the latest updates! m-pact contributes to Virginia Tech BenefitRichmond, VA – Top professional and collegiate groups across the country have announced their participation in an a cappella compilation CD aimed at raising money for the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund setup to benefit the victims of the April 16th, 2007 shootings at Virginia Tech. In an extended effort of the 'For Today' CD Project, which featured 27 collegiate a cappella groups from Virginia and raised over $10,000 in one month, 16 a cappella groups will appear on a compilation named 'Hokie Nation'. Grammy Award winning artist, Take 6, and "America's Leading A Cappella Group", Rockapella, both headline the 'Hokie Nation' CD. Other top professional groups from across the country include: Blue Jupiter, The House Jacks, Transit, Cadence, Hookslide, Firedrill!, and m-pact. Also included on the CD are some of the nation's top collegiate a cappella groups including: University of Pennsylvania Off the Beat, Tufts University Beelzebubs, University of North Carolina Clef Hangers, Cornell University Last Call, Virginia Tech Juxtaposition, Harvard University Callbacks, Boston University Dear Abbys, Brigham Young University Vocal Point, and Oregon University Off the Rocks. "I am very proud to say that the 'For Today' CD has seen enormous success and that the support seen from across the country has been overwhelming. It is my hope that this second album will give those people who are just hearing about the project to help to continue raising funds for the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund," project-founder Matthew Bolling states. "With the support of some of the best and most well-known professional and collegiate groups in the world, I am sure we will be able to make an even bigger impact." The album is currently being sold for $15.00 at the projects official web site, ForTodayCD.com. The album will go into production on June 1st, 2007 and should begin shipping on June 15th, 2007. Due to the donations of all parties involved in the project, 100% of all sales of the album will go directly to the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund. A project-long target of a $20,000 contribution has been set. The 'For Today' CD Project was initiated on April 25th, 2007 by Matthew Bolling of Magnolia Productions, LLC in Richmond, Virginia. Rudy says "farewell"As many of you know, m-pact's super-tenor Rudy Cardenas was a finalist on this season's American Idol. While we were all disappointed by his much-too-early departure from the show, we are incredibly proud of him for making it so far…and for representing himself and m-pact in such a positive, classy manner. The amount of great publicity that Rudy generated for m-pact and for himself has been truly phenomenal! As a result of his performance on the show, Rudy is now having doors open for him that only come along once in a lifetime. So, it is with equal amounts of sadness and excitement that we announce Rudy's departure from m-pact. Sadness, because we will all miss the talent, charisma, and "latin flare" that have become synonymous with Rudy's 4 ½ years in m-pact. But also excitement, because of the great opportunities that he will have as a solo artist. We wish Rudy all the best in the world, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for him! Fans wanting to keep track of Rudy can go to his new website here and add him as a myspace friend here. |
